Well it has taken us a couple of weeks, but we are finally settled in the new Dallas Arise Africa office! We love the new location on Kidwell: it’s cool, close to Whole Foods and we have some lovely neighbors!
Everyone welcomed us with open arms, even our new critter friends! Yes, we said critter friends. At our office we were greeted by a few kitties, a stray dog and most recently our raccoon friend Randy! Little Randy was abandoned by his mother but thankfully rescued by Rita down the hall. The raccoon spends quality time in the fake tree downstairs for now, but will be released to the wild in a month or so. It has definitely been an experience, but we are glad to know that Ella is welcome anytime. This is no joke people, this is our Arise Africa USA office, not to be confused with the Zambia office!
We could not have made the office look so great without the help of our dear friend Madeline. Her t-shirt basket labels are really cute, and Alissa and I know we couldn’t have made anything like them! It was pure entertainment hanging up all of the framed photos and bulletin boards and making them level (or it would have been for the people watching!!) We are sad to report that the level app on the iPhone is a bust, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t try!
Overall, the new office space is great and we are glad to be here. It only takes one quick glance at our sponsored kids bulletin boards to remind us how important our work here is.
Today is the last day of my internship, and I am really sad! I have had such an amazing experience with Arise Africa this summer here in Dallas and especially while in Zambia. Arise Africa is helping change so many people’s lives for the better, and I feel so blessed to have been apart of this organization. This is definitely not the end of my involvement with Arise, and I am excited to see how they continue to grow. Thanks to Alissa and the entire Zambian staff for granting me the opportunity to experience such an amazing organization at work and to see how God is working in Zambia.
Peace out for now,
