Fred spent his early childhood living in Matero compound with his many brothers and sisters. Fred and his family lived in one of the most poverty stricken areas of Lusaka. They slept under a tarp in the dirt, or in rainy season, the mud. Though Fred's parents are extremely loving and caring, their income from selling plastic containers on the streets could not sustain their many children. Fred had multiple relatives and neighbors die from various illnesses. As Fred and his brother, Mukonda, were in Arise Africa's Child Sponsorship Program, Arise Africa began to notice the boys struggle to remain clean and fed. Their desperation became very apparent. After getting their parents blessing and by the grace of God, the brothers moved into the Arise Home in the Spring of 2014. Arise Africa continues to work diligently to make these brother's parents a part of their lives by insuring the boys have constant communication and visits with them.
Fred has spread so much joy to so many people! He is one of our biggest jokesters and loves to tell riddles and play basketball. We like to call him our "renaissance man." He can whip up an amazing bouquet for the Easter table centerpiece right before he slam dunks on all of his brothers! His loving demeanor and playful attitude makes him easily loved by all and he makes us laugh everyday!
