Monica Kalenga
Monica was born on October 20th, 2020 in Lusaka. She is the fourth born in a family of five. There are four girls and one boy. She lives with both her parents, her four siblings, and four of her cousins. Neither of her parents have a reliable income. Her father does piecework at a car wash and her mother works as a housekeeper.
Monica is a friendly girl who enjoys making new friends, and she also loves spending time with her little sister, Esther, who is seven months old. Monica enjoys her mother’s cooking, especially rice served with chicken. Monica was in school for two terms last year but was unable to attend school in the third term due to challenges with school fees. Her favorite subject in school is English, and her favorite color is green.
Monica’s family congregates at the United Church of Zambia each Sunday. Monica wants to be a nurse when she grows up so that she can be in formal employment to take care of her family and also her community.
