Vanessa Mbewe

Vanessa is 10 years old and in 6th grade at MacDonald Brown School. Vanessa and her twin sister, Victoria, live with their older sister, Anna, and their mother in the Mtendere East neighborhood. Vanessa’s father left them shortly after they were born. Her mother works hard to make ends meet for their family. Vanessa and her family attend weekly church services together. Her favorite Bible story is the story of Ruth and Naomi because she loves how loyal Ruth is to Naomi.

Vanessa’s favorite color is pink because of how bright it is. Her favorite meal is chicken served with beans, and her favorite fruit is a banana. In school, Vanessa is kind and social. Her favorite subject is Social Studies and she dreams of becoming a lawyer when she finishes her education. Vanessa enjoys spending time with her friends and feels very fortunate to be able to attend school with her twin sister.
