Shadreck lived in Matero compound and attended school with his sister, Enny, when their mother left the two siblings to fend for themselves. Their father had died years before. After their home was locked by the landlord, Enny and Shadreck took shelter by crawling through a hole in the roof after dark. They lived off of the hot meal a day being provided through Arise Africa Sponsorship at school. After months of sneaking into their old home to sleep, the landlord caught wind of their efforts and had to kick them out. An uncle agreed to take Shadreck into his home though Enny had no where to go. By the grace of God, Arise Africa began the custody process and in the spring of 2013, welcomed Enny into the Arise Home. For years Enny begged Arise to try to find Shadrick. After some time we eventually found him to be living with the uncle. But the uncle was getting married and could no longer keep him. Arise quickly jumped on the opportunity to take him into our full time care in November of 2015.
Shadreck is calm and hard working. His smile never leaves his face. He loves school and commits himself to his schoolwork even though it is very difficult. He loves to play soccer and can be found on the soccer field in the back yard very often. He also loves to listen to christian rap music.
